Secret Letter From A Perry Sister
I feel as if I’m on a seesaw. For as far as I can remember my mom has always been on drugs and physically abusive towards me.
She talked bad about me to anyone, literally anyone. Telling ppl I won’t let her see her grandchildren and she doesn’t know why. I don’t stop them from seeing her they aren’t interested bc of how they have seen her treat me.
She went to the hospital the end of January and found out she has cancer that has spread. All her siblings are older and I am the only child and I’m constantly being reminded of that.
I am assisting her with her appointments and such as I have before when she’s had surgery but idk how to feel. Months before her diagnosis she was talking about me but now I’m the only one stepping up and taking care of her. Ppl say let go of the past, but the past isn’t that far away.
This is what made us laugh this week

How to get perimenopause-ready? 😯
Today more than 80% of women do not know what perimenopause is and/or cannot tell the difference to menopause. Women are often blind-sided by the duration of perimenopause and the start of it (wait... I am WAY too young!)
perry community members describe it as 'tumbling into a dark room, a room you once knew, but now is dark, you can't find the light switch and have no idea how to get out of it'.
Do Doctors pre-educate us beg/mid 30 of what is coming - no.
Do we get a guide 'What to expect when you are not expecting 2.0' - nothing.
So how can we move from blindsided reaction to prevention?
On Thursday perry sister, content creator and millenial @queen_ayoke will ask @drjaynemorgan her and the community questions about how to get perimenopause-ready.
What should every 34+ year old ask her doctor? How can she equip herself? How can she avoid that dark room?
From a young age I dealt with painful periods due to endometriosis - Dianne, perry big sister
Excerpt from “The Perry Menopause Journal”
At the age of 40 I made the difficult decision to put myself into surgical menopause for a better quality of life. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time.
From the moment I woke up the painful periods were gone and I had more energy. What I didn't realize at the time was menopause came with a slew of other symp- toms that at first I didn't realize were even menopause.
The joint pain and feeling like I was crawling out of my skin were just the tip of the iceberg. Slowly I started to research nat- ural ways to deal with menopause and the twenty pounds I gained. I was on one medication or an- other during my earlier years and I wanted to give my body a break, which is why I wanted a more ho- listic approach for the next part of my journey.

Executive Order on Advancing Women’s Health Research and Innovation
The Biden administration expands women's health research, adds $200 million for sexual, reproductive issues
Jill Biden and Maria Shriver joined forces on Monday to launch a new initiative to boost federal research into women's health issues.
The first lady said it was a conversation earlier this year with Shriver, the former California first lady and a women's health advocate, that 'raised the need for an effort inside and outside government to close the research gaps in women's health that have persisted far too long.'
'When I brought this issue to my husband, Joe, a few months ago, he listened. And then he took action,' Jill Biden said. 'That is what he does.'
'Women deserve better, and now we’re going to get,' she noted.
