Secret Letter From A Perry Sister
I feel as if I’m on a seesaw. For as far as I can remember my mom has always been on drugs and physically abusive towards me.
She talked bad about me to anyone, literally anyone. Telling ppl I won’t let her see her grandchildren and she doesn’t know why. I don’t stop them from seeing her they aren’t interested bc of how they have seen her treat me.
She went to the hospital the end of January and found out she has cancer that has spread. All her siblings are older and I am the only child and I’m constantly being reminded of that.
I am assisting her with her appointments and such as I have before when she’s had surgery but idk how to feel. Months before her diagnosis she was talking about me but now I’m the only one stepping up and taking care of her. Ppl say let go of the past, but the past isn’t that far away.
This is what made us laugh this week

Excerpt from “The Perry Menopause Journal”
To be honest, while I love all my female doctors, I’m pretty pissed at all of them. I mean, not being entirely sure I can be trusted not to throw myself off a bridge on any given day does not exactly feel like “getting through it.”
For something 100% of women will definitely go through, how batshit is it that this natural tran- sition is shrouded in mystery and stigma? That my brain is doing mental gymnastics to explain what is happening to me?
Lifespans are much longer than they have ever been in history. Why aren’t we talking about our 50s, truly middle age, as a time of a natural, physiological transition that if we were all more prepared for, we’d actually experience quite differently?

Peri news around the world - Lisa Mosconi, PhD has launched her book ‘The Menopause Brain’
The four parts of THE MENOPAUSE BRAIN break down the foundational elements needed to understand menopause and how it impacts the brain, the role of hormones for brain health, hormonal and non-hormonal therapies (including a deep dive into hormone replacement therapy, anti-estrogen therapy for breast cancer, gender-affirming therapy, and the new generation of “brain estrogens”), and lifestyle and integrative health practices to support your brain throughout menopause and for a lifetime of use.
At its heart, THE MENOPAUSE BRAIN is a love letter to womanhood and a rally cry for all women to celebrate their unique brain power, dispel menopause myths, and journey towards lifelong health. Not only is this crucial to redefine the conversation about menopause, but also in reinvigorating the voice of ‘the forgotten gender’ — individually, and as half the world.
